CoinGecko Acquires NFT Data Startup Zash:
CoinGecko has acquired Zash, an on-chain NFT data analytics firm, enhancing its capabilities in providing comprehensive data on over 1 million NFT collections and marketplaces across 87 blockchain networks.
Zash's expertise in NFT metadata, historical trades, lending, and wash trade detection will be integrated into CoinGecko's API by Q2 2024, allowing users to access a wide range of token data, both fungible and non-fungible.
The acquisition of Zash is a strategic move by CoinGecko to become a one-stop source for all cryptocurrency-related data, underlining its belief in the future potential of NFTs to innovate and create new opportunities beyond current applications.
Binance to 'Completely Exit' From US:
Binance will exit the U.S. market and pay a $4.3 billion fine to settle charges of anti-money laundering and sanctions violations, as announced by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
CEO Changpeng Zhao has resigned after pleading guilty to anti-money laundering violations, agreeing to a separate $50 million fine and being prohibited from any involvement with Binance for at least three years.
The DOJ's investigation revealed Binance's prioritization of growth over legal compliance, allowing illicit funds to pass through the exchange and failing to stop over $898 million in illegal trades with sanctioned countries. The settlement includes Binance forfeiting $2.5 billion and paying a $1.8 billion criminal fine, sending a clear message that crypto exchanges must adhere to U.S. laws.

Nike Dropped Sneakers That Come With NFTs:
Nike, in collaboration with crypto startup RTFKT, launched a public presale for its new RTFKT Dunk Genesis sneakers, available without the need to own a RTFKT NFT. The sneakers, priced at $222 each, come with unique features like a "Vial Clip Tongue" and "Modular Heel Shield," and purchasers can also 3D print their own modifications.
The sneakers are integrated with near-field communication (NFC) chips, called RTFKT World Merging chips, enabling owners to obtain a digital collectible and link the physical sneakers with the digital asset. Delivery is expected by July 31, 2024, for the VOID Edition and August 31, 2024, for the Ghost Edition.
This initiative differs from previous Nike and RTFKT collaborations, which required an NFT for purchasing real-world shoes. The chain for minting the associated NFTs is not specified, but RTFKT has previously used Ethereum, and Nike has its digital platform on Polygon. RTFKT is known for its Clone X NFT collection, with over $852 million in trades.
