OKX Obtains VASP License in Dubai:
OKX, a crypto exchange, has obtained a virtual asset service provider (VASP) license in Dubai through its local subsidiary, OKX Middle East Fintech FZE, as part of its global expansion strategy.
The license, granted by the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, is currently non-operational pending fulfillment of specific conditions and localization requirements. Once operational, it will enable OKX Middle East to offer regulated virtual asset activities and spot trading services to institutional and qualified retail customers.
Dubai has become a popular destination for crypto firms, with notable companies like Crypto.com, Hex Trust, and Nomura’s crypto arm Laser Digital also receiving VASP licenses in the region. Rifad Mahasneh, general manager for the MENA region of OKX, highlighted the region's potential as a hub for Web3 and crypto.
