Manchester City & Quidd - Digital Collectibles & Fan Experiences:
  • Manchester City has announced a multi-year partnership with Quidd, a leading digital collectible platform, to launch a collection of Manchester City-themed non-fungible token (NFT) trading cards, offering fans innovative digital collectibles along with exclusive benefits such as merchandise and unique experiences.

  • The partnership will kick off with the release of over 200 bespoke player cards on May 2, available through Quidd's marketplace. To celebrate the launch, the first 10,000 Manchester City fans ("Cityzens") will receive two free packs and exclusive access to additional packs, enhancing fan engagement and loyalty.

  • This initiative is part of Manchester City's broader strategy to lead in digital innovation within the sports industry, building on previous NFT ventures and partnerships, such as the creation of a virtual Etihad Stadium with Sony and launching unique NFT collections tied to club milestones and special events.

Yuga Labs Resumes Layoffs, CEO Says Company ‘Lost Its Way’:
  • Yuga Labs, a company known for owning Bored Apes and CryptoPunks IP, has conducted another round of layoffs, less than seven months after previous cuts, although the exact number of affected staff remains undisclosed.

  • CEO Greg Solano, who reassumed leadership from former CEO Daniel Alegre, announced the layoffs and a company restructuring on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the need for Yuga Labs to return to a smaller, more agile, and crypto-native team to regain its focus and creative spirit.

Immutable Launching Gaming Reward Program Worth $50 million:

  • The program includes over 270 gaming titles currently in development within the Immutable ecosystem, with prominent projects like "Illuvium" and "MetalCore" featured in the initial phase of the program, allowing players to earn rewards through quests, gameplay, and collection ownership.

  • Supported by major investors including Tencent and Coinbase, Sydney-based Immutable aims to attract gamers to the emerging web3 space by showcasing the benefits of digital ownership and the expansive potential of blockchain gaming.

EPAA Forms Working Group to Explore Quantum-Safe Cryptography:
  • The Emerging Payments Association Asia (EPAA) has established a new working group on quantum-safe cryptography (WG-QSC) with key members like HSBC, AP+, PayPal, and IBM to promote its adoption in the banking industry and enhance the security of payment systems against future quantum computing threats.

  • Launched at Money20/20 Asia in Bangkok, the WG-QSC will focus on developing best practices for implementing quantum-safe cryptography by studying policy, regulation, and business processes, aiming to protect payment rails and processes from potential quantum computing breaches.

  • The WG-QSC plans to publish its initial findings before the Sibos conference in October 2024, working to create a roadmap for post-quantum networking and strengthen the resilience of future networks through agreed-upon policies and strategies to safeguard sensitive financial data and payment infrastructures.

Capify Secures £100 Million Credit Facility:
  • Capify, a leading online SME lender, has secured a £100 million credit facility from Pollen Street Capital to support its ambitious growth plans and provide essential working capital to thousands of SMEs in the UK and Australia.

  • Founded in 2008 by David Goldin, Capify emerged as one of the world's first online alternative financing companies for SMEs, especially during a time when traditional bank financing was scarce. The company was recognized as the UK Credit Awards SME Lender of the Year for its contributions to the sector.

  • The new financing from Pollen Street Capital will allow Capify to enhance its technological platforms and customer service, enabling faster decision-making for brokers and SMEs. This partnership is celebrated by Capify’s management as a significant milestone that aligns with their commitment to financial inclusion and regional economic growth.
