Appzone, now rebranded as Zone, is a Nigeria-based fintech software provider that has developed a blockchain-enabled payment infrastructure to connect banks and fintech companies in Africa, aiming to facilitate transactions without intermediaries and improve the reliability and speed of payments.
Zone has already onboarded over 15 of Africa's largest banks and is processing domestic transactions through various channels, with plans to expand its network and launch additional functionalities, such as decentralized routing for improved reliability and instant settlement for quicker merchant payments.
The company has raised $8.5 million in a seed round led by Flourish Ventures and TLcom Capital, with the funding expected to support the rollout of new features and broaden its network coverage across different payment channels.

Prediction Market Platform Kalshi to Launch Crypto Price Bets:
Kalshi, a U.S.-based prediction market platform, is launching five new event contracts that allow clients to bet on future price movements of bitcoin and ether, with bets placed in U.S. dollars instead of crypto.
The new offerings include predicting the future value of bitcoin with price targets for this year at $75,000, $80,000, $90,000, $100,000, and $150,000 or above, as well as estimating the daily price of ether at 4 p.m.
These prediction markets are being introduced as the cryptocurrency market experiences significant growth, with the GMCI 30 index rising around 115% since the second half of 2023, despite a recent price correction in bitcoin from over $73,000 to under $65,000.
